Pennsylvania’s foremost resource for adoption information, referral services, support, and education
Day 1 introduces new foster parents to the foundations of care by explaining how the mental health system works and how it functions differently when a child is involved in the child welfare system. Caregivers learn who makes decisions, how services are accessed, and what treatment options typically look like, while also gaining practical tools to advocate for their foster or adoptive youth in mental health settings. This day is designed to reduce confusion, build confidence, and prepare caregivers to be informed, effective partners in supporting a child’s emotional and behavioral needs from the start of placement.
