Pennsylvania’s foremost resource for adoption information, referral services, support, and education
Day 2 gives new foster parents a clear understanding of how identity, culture, and lived experience shape the needs of foster and adopted youth. Caregivers examine how their own backgrounds and expectations influence the relationships they build and gain a more concrete understanding of their responsibilities within the child welfare system. This day also introduces practical, trauma informed strategies for responding to stress, behavioral escalation, and crisis situations, equipping caregivers with tools they can use to maintain safety, stability, and consistency in the home.
